About Katy Tyler

I really enjoy being a student at Kaplan. I have been at Kaplan for 2 semesters, this is my third semester. My major is IT. The reason I chose to go into IT was my love of computers. After I finish the IT program, I want to pursue my ultimate dream to become a Vet Tech.

When I graduate from the IT program, I plan on working from home as an IT. While working from home, I plan on taking my Vet Tech courses. This is my plan and I hope I can make my dreams come true.

My hobbies include the following; taking care of my animals, gardening, and listening to country music. I have a lot of animals I take care of. I have 7 cats, 1 dog, Skipjack  a gerbil, and some fish. I did not start off to have 7 cats, all but two of them are rescues. Each one of my cats has there own story of how I ended up with them. Terp,Terp  who is the oldest, came to me from one of my friends in North Carolina. Next, I have Gizmo Gizmo  who is also a North Carolina cat. My parents were supposed to adopt him, but he ended up biting them because I told him to bite them so grandma crab and pop pop would not take him, and he actually bit them. Next, we have Jasper. Jasper was found about a year after we moved to Maryland. Jasper Jasper was thrown out of a truck into our yard in a big black trash bag. When my roommate went to cut the yard, he saw a trash bag, picked it up and Jasper just whined, and that is how we ended up with him. Jasper is pure black and as sweet as can be. The next cat we ended up getting was Tigger.Tigger  Tigger was found by my dog, Skipjack. We let Skipjack out to use the bathroom and he would not come back in. We noticed he was going around in circles and trying to get our attention. We went out in the yard and found Tigger. Tigger was half beaten and almost dead. we scooped him up and nursed him back to health. He is now doing perfectly and the vet told me I needed to become a Vet Tech because I have something special when it comes to animals. Moving on to Boomer.Boomer  Boomer found us. One spring day about two years ago he just walked around the side of the house and I snatched him up, brought him inside, and fed him. He has been here ever since with no reason to go outside again. Now, for the princess of the family, Dixie.Dixie  Dixie was found in a dumpster near our house. Me and my roommate were shopping and were putting our items in our car when we heard this faint little cry. My roommate looked in the dumpster and saw her buried in there with ketchup, ranch dressing and cigarette butts all over her. She is the one that worried us the most because we did not think she would survive. When we got her back to the house, she was given a bath and come to find out she was a little black and white kitten. She ended up surviving and we got her fixed (all our cats are fixed). Now she is the one with the most personality. She will even talk to you. Last, but not least we have Chance.Chance  Chance was found in Wor-Wic Technical College in Maryland. I was coming out of class and I saw him coming out of the bushes. I looked around to see if I could find him Mama and she was no where around. He still had blue eyes when we got him and we bottle fed him and now he is a part of the family. He has a nickname of "Chew-Chews" because he chews on my shirt like he was nursing his mother and that is how he falls asleep. He is now a 6 month old cutey pie.

I took responsibility for these cats by getting each of them spayed and neutered. All of my cats also see a Vet and there medical needs are met. So, if you are thinking about having a lot of animals make sure you are ready for the expense that goes into it.
